“Regarding our Mum, Bertha Cole, I was just wanting to write and say how much we appreciated the care that Maryanne and her team at Parahaki Court gave to Mum .... more

I was just wanting to write and say how much we appreciated the care that Maryanne and her team at Parahaki Court, gave to Mum over the last six years. We know that Mum was cared for and loved beyond our expectations. They gave wonderful genuine love and care to Mum who was a humble, gracious and generally uncomplaining person. She just didn't want to be a bother to anyone and at times should have "pressed her bell" but didn't want to "bother the busy staff."
Mum was determined to keep her independence for as long as possible and we know that other residents and the staff at the rest home were a witness to this. ..... No, I'll do it myself!!!... people heard her say!
We want to let you know what a great team Maryanne has under her and what a great Team Leader she is. All we can say is thank you to everyone involved.
We appreciated their kindness and concerns for her. They always kept in touch and kept us in the loop. Communication is a really important tool and they do that extremely well.
We were grateful to have staff who knew what they were doing and for us to have someone to share Mum's ups and downs (having recovered from a stroke) was so helpful to us. Together we watched Mum's determination to get better from that.
Their help, support, encouragement and care was a huge part of her recovery. We appreciated that Mum was able to stay in the environment that she knew - right to the end.

Thanks again”

“To whom it may concern, For a very long time I have wanted to write a Testimonial about the people who work at Parahaki Court Rest Home .... more

For a very long time I have wanted to write a Testimonial about the people who work at Whangarei Parahaki Court Rest Home. They are exceptional.
Never judge a book by it's cover - there is no truer word spoken.
Parahaki rest home was not my first choice as I was looking for somewhere bigger for my mum to go, that would have been a big mistake as it turned out.
The carers, cleaners and cooks, all the staff play a part in looking after my mum and the other 24 residents. They are my angels, not only do they care for mum but they play a very big part in how I am feeling, they help me cope in ways they are unaware.
A rest home is not where we want any of our loved ones to end up, but as it turned out the choice was not mine to make.
Getting old is very cruel, mum had been heading in that direction for a few years slowly but surely, it is hard watching a parent going that way. But I speak from the heart when I say that the staff at Parahaki Court are my angels, I am not a religious person but I am truly humbled at the job that they do, as I feel a lot is taken for granted in this line of work. It takes a very special person to cope with this type of job. I salute them all.
When it all boils down to it, Parahaki Court is not the biggest place out there but it has heart, it is clean, never smells, and feels like home, always welcoming, because of the people that choose to work at Parahaki Court.
On behalf of Mum, myself and family we thank you all for your continued support.

All my continued gratitude”

My father has been in the Parahaki Court Rest Home for four years, it was a really big decision to choose a home that he would be comfortable in and cared for properly .... more

”It was a really big decision to choose a home that he would be comfortable in and cared for properly.
I looked at all the rest homes in Whangarei and I am so pleased that we chose Parahaki Court Rest home. Dad has been extremely happy there and I cannot speak highly enough of the staff. They are lovely to the clients and genuinely care for them. They hug them and treat them like family.
It is so important that they are respected and cared for properly and this definitely happens there. The food is great and Dad (who is fussy) can have the things he likes. The rooms are clean and tidy. The home takes the patients out regularly on trips around the area which Dad really enjoys.
It is such a peace of mind to know that Dad is safe, well cared for and having fun in the later years of his life.”
